Bronze Courses

Aim of the course To teach techniques which will enable the trainee to make small bronze pieces therefore giving him/her the possibility to join the world of bronze sculpture at a very reasonable cost : the set up of a small workshop will not exceed 250 Euros.
Course program

- 1st and 2nd days : modelling of the beeswax, various heating techniques : charcoal fire, hair-dryer, hot air-gun, hot water.
The trainee decides on the piece he/she wants to make.

- 3rd and 4th days : making of the moulds which are a mixture of horse or donkey manure and sand or grog (clay which has been fired then reduced to powder).
Drying, removal of wax, firing of the moulds.

- 5th and 6th days : smelting of the various metals (copper, tin) and pouring. Each trainee is doing its own pouring which is one of the most important step of the course.

At the beginning of the course, each trainee receives an aide-mémoire.

Where to do the course
Formula 1 In my workshop in Montaut, a small village in the South-West of France, situated between Mont-de-Marsan and Dax.
Formula 2 During events organized anywhere in France (i.e. Dordogne, Brittany, Vendée…). Generally, the organization provides accommodation at a very reasonable price.
  In each case, the minimum number of trainees is 4 and maximum 6. Below 4 trainees, the course is cancelled.
Caution Do not forget to get an antitetanus injection. Horse manure ranks high for tetanus. TETANUS IS A DEADLY SICKNESS.

Cost

For 6 days : 700 euros lunch included
Accommodation is not provided but this price includes all the necessary tools and materials to work with.
